Cosby responsible for Inky, DN buyouts

092605cosby.jpg We've talked a lot about the buyouts at the Inquirer and Daily News last week. Because, you know, when ad revenues are declining, it's time to lay off some staff writers, 'cause that'll get people interested in the paper again!

We know the economy sucks (pretty much) and we know that newspaper advertising is down all over, but for the Philadelphia papers, we know the problem now: Bill Cosby.

You see, the Cos won't advertise in the Daily News on Inquirer for any show that he does. It's all in the comedian's contract rider, which was posted Friday on The Smoking Gun.

So, you know, when the Cos isn't saying things like, "Hey hey hey, black people should stop speaking funny bip bop boop bop zoop zoop zoop," he's asking for toilet paper that's "high quality... Cottonelle or equivalent," as well as needing a specific variety of Latte from Starbucks (or equivalent).

And, yes, the promoters aren't allowed to advertise the show in the Inky or Daily News (or the Boston Globe). Cosby asks for a size "L" baseball cap if the show is at a school. Oh, and you better remove the cardboard package and cellophane wrapper from the two Neutrogena bath soap bars that better be in his room before he gets there!

Oh, and a sweatshirt with "HELLO FRIEND" printed on it. You know, after reading this rider, I don't think I want to go see Bill Cosby live. I just hope the Cos doesn't get pissed and try to run me over in the late model, four door luxury sedan (but not a limousine!) he requested.
