Proof that Penn kids are wimps

RIP Lenny Now that Penn is back in session, it's time for the annual ritual each fall where the crime rate goes up in West Philadelphia because local residents are robbing those Ivy League kids. Hey, we didn't say we agreed with it, we just said it happens.

Don't worry, Drexel students! Even you guys can get in on the fun: two years ago a Drexel student was stabbed by two men in a robbery attempt, one of whom was a soldier stationed in Germany out on leave.

So while the Philly/Penn mashed-up cops continue to look the other way on underage drinking and the on-campus cameras continue to, uhm, catch these robbers after the fact, we'll be keeping you updated on just what Penn kids got mugged each night, hoping the number is low, but knowing there's a good chance it'll be higher than usual.

Monday night, a 29-year-old grad student walking from 30th Street was followed by two men, who shoved him to the ground, taking his wallet and cell phone.

The attackers:

Police described the first suspect as a black male, 14 to 16 years old, between 5 foot 6 and 5 foot 9. He is described as thin with a dark complexion. The suspect wore a white T-shirt and dark pants. He may have pulled a bandanna over part of his face before committing the robbery.

The second suspect is reportedly a 12- to 13-year-old black male, roughly 5 feet tall with a heavy build and a dark complexion. He, too, wore a white T-shirt and dark pants.

Basically, what it comes down to is that a 29-year-old got mugged by a 14-year-old and a 12-year-old. Now now, we know, muggings aren't funny, blah blah blah, but... come on. Did they even have a weapon? (Editor's Note: I'm pretty sure I'd be able to be taken out by anyone older than 10. Just so you know.)
